Europe and North America share learning on intermodal transport

Sharing best practice and learning from others has been a driver of intermodal excellence in both the USA and Europe.  The first intermodal exhibition in the European Parliament has been hosted by UIRR and IANA, and comes at a time when European legislators begin deliberating the Combined Transport Directive.  The exhibition shows how intermodal transport works in Europe and in the USA, who the key actors are and the differences in our operations.  Intermodal trains make up about half of rail freight traffic today on both sides of the Atlantic and help alleviate road congestion, pollution, carbon emissions as well as road degradation and road accidents.  Safety and security of transport chains is improved.  UIRR - IANA Intermodal Exhibition Catalogue.pdf
