F&L 1-2 October 2025

Nike European Logistics Campus, Belgium

Peer group learning, benchmarking & driving forward company KPI priorities

Held at Nike European Logistics Campus, Laakdal, Belgium
1-2 October, 2025

Leaders across logistics and the supply chain face challenging market conditions, everyone is under pressure to innovate & demonstrate results, and F&L Members say ideas that worked a few years ago may not be relevant anymore.  Member Nike invited the F&L community to its campus.

For Members’ benefit, the F&L global network of freight logistics practitioners created unique new data on KPI current business priorities across industrial sectors, across transport modes, geographies & roles. Utilising this data backdrop, we focused on:

  • What the priorities were, why some priorities are top of the list, and whose list?
  • What does this mean for each business & for sector freight logistics operations?
  • What actions can business take both internally and externally to achieve these ambitions?

Agenda

Beginning with a rundown of current strategies from Nike’s VP EMEA Logistics, the community moved on to focus on benchmarking & driving forward company KPI priorities.

Considering the 12 actions driving KPIs, rankings of major shippers (48%), LSPs all modes (25%), hubs & ports (11%) and others (16%) were anonymised.  Leaders shared their reactions.  Many took the opportunity to clarify understanding on why peer thought as they do, and some considered how today’s results potentially measure up to future expectations with partners, suppliers and customers.  There were some interesting contradictions also noted.

Results from F&L’s Confidence Index clearly demonstrated how confidence levels have changed in Europe, Asia and North America since April for the commodities & mining, food/beverage/FMCG, chemicals, automotive, electrical & electronics and heavy industrial sectors.  Members – please ask for more info.

KPI priority workshops

Leaders and their teams rotated through 4 workshops on the 4 highest ranked priorities to gain clarity on why they were ranked, what this means for each business & for sector freight logistics operations and, critically, to plan for what comes next.  Again, some interesting contractions and myriad perspectives.  Please ask if you would like a summary of the priorities the workshops addressed & the conclusions of each workshop.

Other topics addressed

  • Robotic systems & circular economy: how to triage end-of-life products automatically
  • Lack of sufficient insurance coverage in logistics: why & how to solve the problem?
  • M&A activity – what’s boiling the market & what’s coming?
