Accelerating decarbonisation: unlocking a competitive edge in freight logistics – really?  Progress is slow and freight logistics faces headwinds in a critical environment.  But despite – or perhaps because of – current challenges, proactive measures can present commercial and competitive opportunities.  Objective: to bring a deliberately diverse mix of key stakeholders in the freight logistic sector together  for collaborative dialogue to (1) acknowledge where the freight logistics sector has got to with decarbonisation, and (2) experience, discuss & debate how the next wave of new products, innovation and technological developments can be incorporated into each of our stakeholder pathways.

Information you can trust.  F&L is independent, does not seek commercial gain, and has a wide network of international senior business leaders from 20+ countries (including members) who come together within the competition laws to learn, inform, challenge and collaborate for mutual benefit.

  • Meeting date: 26 – 27 June 2025 (two half days & one night)
  • Location: Zurich, Switzerland for interesting work, key stakeholders & ease of travel.
  • Who should attend: a deliberately diverse mix of key stakeholders in the freight logistic sector includes commercial leaders, academics, entrepreneurs, shippers, LSPs, those with a responsibility for freight logistics in Europe or across the world, those with a direct responsibility for or interest in the environment.
  • What to expect: collaborative, constructive discussions challenging conventional thinking, expanding perspectives and sharpening strategic visions.  No sales pitches.  Supporting you to push decarbonisation forward in your own business.
  • Costs: €0 but we will charge a nominal fee for those who wish to include their product/service in the agenda (Part 4, Fri 27 June).  Please note that F&L is not-for-profit & independent and that this agenda is not a series of presentations.  Ask about part 4 – including your product / service in the agenda.

private coach transfer to world’s largest direct air capture testing plant to see behind the scenes & understand possibilities and impact.  You will see first hand how CO² is captured from ambient air and what is behind this novel technology with the potential to become a multi-trillion dollar industry.  Critical: Leaders must push themselves to understand what is possible today & the processes behind – even if you believe today you will not use DAC – because it is increasingly clear that achieving climate targets in 2030 and beyond will require effective carbon removal solutions.

Please note there is no opportunity to enter late.

Direct Air Capture (DAC) directly captures carbon dioxide (CO2) from ambient and stores it underground, effectively reducing greenhouse gases and contributing to achieving net-zero goals.  It is a privilege to gain access to this facility and we intend to use the time to understand as much as possible.

18:00 / 18:30, coach returns after visit to participant hotels central Zurich.

Climeworks is a leading high-quality carbon removal provider, combining decades of expertise in Direct Air Capture (DAC) technology with holistic carbon removal solutions. The company runs the world’s first two DAC plants in Iceland, has raised over $800m in capital and employs 500 people.  The company is on a journey to impact climate at scale.  To truly enable global net zero – along with reducing/removing emissions – we also need carbon dioxide removal such as direct air capture and storage (DAC+S), to neutralize our unavoidable and historic emissions. Critically, we need to remove billions of tons of CO₂ from the air by 2100 to keep global warming in check.
