Agenda: Chasing Change – Are We Building Sustainable Strategies?

Final Agenda, F&L Madrid Nov 2018 – Racing towards a ‘new normal’ where VUCA (volatility, uncertainty, complexity, ambiguity) is here to stay, we move from Gothenburg where we discussed how innovation and collaboration, automation, sustainability and technology are driving/ supporting change.  Spain is the strategic location of choice for F&L’s November meeting: fourth largest economy in the Euro zone, a thriving industrial sector, and critical function as ‘garden of Europe’.  Pressure from stakeholders along the supply chain continues to drive innovation and ‘disruption’ across all sectors, capacity/service issues remain challenging, environment/society/politics present new problems and management needs tools and more information to plan for success in an uncertain global trading environment.  Understanding, dialogue and positioning are critical as companies along the end-to-end supply chain find extra challenge in planning the next 3/5 years and beyond…

Session 2: Supply chain visibility and tools for management control
During this period of innovation, the ability to understand, manage and adjust amid the “data maelstrom” will help shippers and transport providers build sustainable (long term) strategies.  “Visibility” means different things to different stakeholders, but as devices become cheaper and more integrated it is clear that data is in plentiful supply – yet is often stored in silos.  Speakers will provide practical examples and honest experiences of their journeys and challenges before engaging the audience in two-way discussion about their own strategies for management control, new business processes, better use of resources and reducing risk and vulnerability.
